Mayor Martinez Must Resign and the City Council Must Act

Join JCRC Bay Area and leaders from across the region in demanding the resignation of Richmond Mayor Eduardo Martinez. 

In recent days he’s repeatedly used his public platform to spread antisemitic conspiracy theories about Israel and Jews. Nor is this the first time he has spread hate. Mayor Martinez has a history of antisemitic statements, including expressing tacit support for the October 7 attacks by Hamas.

Leadership requires accountability and, given the disregard he has shown for the Jewish community, a simple apology is insufficient. Please send an email to the Richmond City Council calling for the mayor to step down and for the Council to adopt a resolution censuring him. Only by affirming that antisemitism in all its forms has no place in Richmond can true healing begin.

PROVIDE PUBLIC COMMENT ON JAN 20

We need YOU to show up and speak out at the next Richmond City Council meeting, where a resolution (item Q.4) to censure Mayor Martinez is expected. Give public comment in person or online to demonstrate support for this resolution and to continue demanding Mayor Martinez’s resignation.

ARRIVE EARLY. Opposition groups are mobilizing to defend the mayor, so your presence and your voice are critical. Each speaker will have one minute.

How to Provide Public Comment

• Members of the public may speak for 1 or 2 minutes during “Item N – Open Forum For Public Comment.”
• To speak in person: Complete and submit a pink speaker’s card to the City Clerk before the Council considers the item.
• To speak via Zoom: Join the meeting and use the “raise hand” feature once public comment is open for the item.
